Labour Day provides an opportunity to recognize and reflect on the contributions and achievements of workers, past and present. In recognition of this, the Honourable Lloyd Parrott, Minister of Government Services and Minister of Labour, extends his appreciation to the individuals whose hard work, dedication and commitment help make Newfoundland and Labrador a great place to live, work and do business.
From the fishery and natural resource sectors to health care, education, construction, transportation, manufacturing and technology, workers are the foundation of the province’s success. Their skills and dedication continue to power the economy and provide the services people rely on every day, supporting communities in every part of Newfoundland and Labrador.
As Newfoundland and Labrador looks ahead to major economic opportunities, including significant resource development and infrastructure projects like Churchill Falls, the Bay du Nord project, and the growing demand for critical minerals needed to support the global energy transition, workers will continue to be at the centre of that success. From tradespeople and engineers to heavy equipment operators, transportation workers, technicians and other skilled professionals, Newfoundlanders and Labradorians will help build, operate and sustain the projects that will shape the province’s economic future. These projects have the potential to create jobs, attract investment, strengthen communities and generate revenue, helping ensure the benefits of our resources are shared throughout the province.
