As the new government continues to review emerging information about the oversight and accountability of travel nurses, we remain focused on taking real, meaningful action.

We are working with Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services to ensure they have the tools and supports needed to manage these challenges and strengthen accountability. While there is no quick fix, our government is committed to improving how travel nurses are hired, managed and monitored. Budget 2026 will provide additional details on our plan to address long-standing issues impacting the delivery of health-care services for people throughout the province.

The Honourable Lela Evans, Minister of Health and Community Services, will be available to media today, Tuesday, April 14, to further discuss concerns. The availability will take place at the Department of Health and Community Services lobby, West Block, Confederation Building, beginning at 11:45 a.m.
