The Provincial Government is investing $475,000 through the Labour Market Partnerships (LMP) program to support SkillsPass NL 2.0, a one-year demonstration project led by Bluedrop ISM (Bluedrop), a leading workforce training solutions innovator based in St. John’s.
SkillsPass is Bluedrop’s industry-integrated training delivery and credential management platform, designed to simplify workforce learning, skills development and digital credentialing. Through the project, Bluedrop will collaborate with employers, industry associations, regulators and training institutions to expand access to online training and digital credentials, helping build a more connected, skilled and adaptable workforce across Newfoundland and Labrador.
The initiative will also focus on strategic partnerships, priority occupations and sectors, and the integration of digital credentials into hiring and training practices, while measuring their impact on workforce participation and labour market outcomes.
Supporting collaborative labour market initiatives is an important part of the Provincial Government’s efforts to address workforce challenges, strengthen the provincial talent pipeline and deliver on its platform commitment to help Newfoundlanders and Labradorians access the skills and training they need to succeed. By bringing together employers, educators, industry organizations and regulators, SkillsPass NL 2.0 will help foster a more connected, responsive and innovative workforce development system.
The project’s innovative approach to skills recognition and credential management will help improve workforce participation, enhance labour market responsiveness and contribute to sustainable economic growth throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
Funding for this initiative is provided through the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Labour Market Development Agreement.
