The Honourable Helen Conway Ottenheimer, Minister of Justice and Public Safety, along with Assistant Commissioner Pat Cahill, Commanding Officer of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Newfoundland and Labrador, are traveling today (Thursday, July 30) to visit several RCMP detachments in Labrador and along the coast.

Arranged by the RCMP, the visits provide Minister Conway Ottenheimer the opportunity to listen and meet with local Indigenous and community leaders and be on the ground to discuss how the RCMP can best serve the region. While in Labrador, the Minister will meet with representatives from the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

Ensuring every community in Newfoundland and Labrador feels safe and secure is the priority of the Provincial Government. Listening to the concerns of residents is essential to building safer communities for all of us.
