Newfoundland and Labrador’s Office of the Seniors’ Advocate (OSA) has released its 2025-2026 Status Report on Recommendations. This report represents our ongoing commitment to report publicly on the status of outstanding OSA recommendations. The current report provides details on whether recommendations of the OSA have been implemented or otherwise resolved, partially implemented, or not implemented. The report covers the period April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026.
This report shows a reduction of 12 per cent in implemented recommendations and an increase in not implemented recommendations by 25 per cent since last year’s report. However, it should be noted that, since the covering period of last year’s Status Report on Recommendations, the OSA introduced two new recommendation reports: An Ounce of Prevention is Worth a Pound of Cure (April 2025) and From Review to Action: A Continuum of Care Approach (May 2025).
“It will be critically important to see movement on the 15 recommendations from 2025 that have had no action, especially the creation and implementation of Continuum of Care Legislation to ensure the protection of seniors in the personal care and long term care systems.”

Quote
“Since beginning the annual reporting of status on recommendations of the Office of the Seniors’ Advocate, we have seen progress. It is true what gets measured gets managed. The work is far from over, but I am confident that the advocacy of this Office and the efforts of government and other service providers will continue as robustly as ever before, seniors deserve no less.”
