The Honourable Andrea Barbour, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation, today announced that Lisa Browne has been appointed chief executive officer (CEO) of The Rooms Corporation of Newfoundland and Labrador on an interim basis.
Ms. Browne is a senior executive with more than 25 years of leadership experience across the public and community sectors. A biography can be found in the backgrounder below.

The Rooms is Newfoundland and Labrador’s largest public cultural space and contains the province’s most extensive collection of artifacts, art and historical records. Since it opened in 2005, The Rooms has welcomed more than 1.6 million visitors to tour its exhibitions and participate in its education and public programs.

Biography of Lisa Browne
Lisa Browne is an executive leader with experience in the health, community and post-secondary sectors within Newfoundland and Labrador. Her most recent leadership roles have been as CEO of Stella’s Circle and a vice-president with Memorial University.
Ms. Browne has a long history in the arts. She has been a volunteer violinist with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra and has worked at the Royal Conservatory of Music, the Shaw Festival and the Canadian Stage Company, all in Ontario. She was a co-founder of Arts Under the Stars in Clarenville, bringing accessible, high-quality arts experiences to audiences in rural Newfoundland and Labrador.
She has supported the governance of arts organizations, as a former vice-chair of the board of The Rooms, and a board member of the National Gallery of Canada. As a volunteer, Ms. Browne is a mentor with Business and the Arts NL’s Grow to Lead program, which empowers arts leaders across the province, and she was recently appointed to Imagine Canada’s Standards Advisory Council. Lisa has a BA and MBA.
