Provincial Government Provides Funding for 2026 Royal St. John’s Regatta

Today, the Honourable Andrea Barbour, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation, announced $55,000 in funding to support North America’s oldest sporting event – the Royal St. John’s Regatta.

This year’s event will include the following enhancements:

  • Regatta Eve concert at the Quidi Vidi Lake Bandstand
  • Metrobus Park N’ Ride service to improve access to the site
  • Upgraded audio-visual production and live entertainment
  • Race naming recognition for June Day and Regatta Day races
  • Medal presentations by the Premier, Minister, or designate
  • Improved site access and overall event experience

Now in its 208th year, the Royal St. John’s Regatta is an annual event, which is a special summer tradition for many. The races and pondside garden party are known to attract up to 50,000 spectators each year to the shores of Quidi Vidi Lake.
