Newfoundlanders and Labradorians joined Canadians from coast to coast on Sunday, September 20, for the 46th Annual Terry Fox Run, carrying forward Terry Fox’s legacy of courage, determination and hope in the fight against cancer.

The Terry Fox School Run brought students together across the province, with schools participating in events on September 18 and 25. These events provide an opportunity for young people to learn about Terry’s remarkable journey, honour his legacy and help raise funds for cancer research.

It is a day to honour Terry Fox’s courage, determination and vision, and the lasting impact he made in the fight against cancer. Participants can walk, run or ride to help carry his legacy forward.

In 2025, schools and communities across Newfoundland and Labrador held 240 Terry Fox Runs, raising $320,000 for cancer research and inspiring thousands of people to make a difference in their communities.

Forty-six years after Terry began his Marathon of Hope, his courage and determination continue to bring communities together. After losing his leg to bone cancer, Terry set out to run across Canada, with the goal of raising money for cancer research. Here in Newfoundland and Labrador, the community of Port aux Basques helped fuel that vision when residents contributed $10,000 – one dollar for every person in town – an act that inspired Terry to set his nationwide goal.
