The Provincial Government has awarded a $23.47 million contract to Trident Construction Limited for the replacement of the Marystown Harbour Bridge, known locally as the Canning Bridge.
The multi-year project includes construction of a new two-span concrete bridge, a new long-span underpass at Ville Marie Drive, roadway reconstruction, sidewalks, drainage improvements, retaining walls, signage and guiderail installation.
Roads infrastructure is vital to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador, connecting communities, supporting local businesses, and providing safe and reliable access to employment, education, health care and essential services. Through this initiative, the aging bridge and underpass infrastructure in Marystown will be replaced, improving public safety, reliability and long-term transportation capacity through the harbour area. It will help ensure residents, businesses and visitors continue to benefit from a safe and reliable transportation network in the region.
