The Honourable Lela Evans, Minister of Women and Gender Equality is recognizing the achievements, leadership, and resilience of women throughout the province, as Newfoundland and Labrador marks International Women’s Day on Sunday, March 8.

Celebrating International Women’s Day shines a light on the many contributions of women. From workplaces and classrooms, to communities, families, and public life, women continue to drive progress, strengthen economies, and inspire meaningful change.

This year’s theme, Give to Gain, calls on everyone to champion equity and opportunity, recognizing that when women and girls thrive, entire communities and economies grow stronger.

Women in this province recently celebrated a major milestone, the 100th anniversary of women securing the right to vote and hold public office. Throughout Newfoundland and Labrador, women organized, rallied and advocated for change, paving the way for future generations.

Today, Newfoundland and Labrador is powered by women who make vital contributions, setting the course for a more equitable future.
