The Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, offers best wishes to all Hindu Newfoundlanders and Labradorians celebrating New Year today.
Hindu New Year is celebrated on different days in different regions of India and other countries. Generally, those who follow the Lunar calendar celebrate Hindu New Year on the first day of Chaitra month, which this year is March 7.
To recognize and celebrate the diversity of the province’s residents, the Provincial Government acknowledges cultural holidays and events, a key commitment in The Way Forward on Immigration in Newfoundland and Labrador.
This collaborative, partnership-driven immigration action plan delivers on commitments in The Way Forward to strengthen the province’s economic foundation and deliver better services and better outcomes for residents. The Way Forward outlines all actions the Provincial Government is taking to achieve a strong, diversified province with a high standard of living, and can be viewed at thewayforward.gov.nl.ca.
