The Department of Fisheries and Land Resources is inviting proposals for a Stage 1 Historic Resources Impact Assessment and a Level 1 Groundwater Assessment both for the New Bay Pond Cottage Development.
The department is proposing to develop up to 88, 0.4 hectare recreational cottage lots with associated road construction on New Bay Pond which is located approximately 17 kilometres north of Grand Falls-Windsor and accessed via the New Bay Pond Road. The objective of the Stage 1 Historic Resources Impact Assessment is to verify the presence or absence of historical resources in the proposed cottage development area prior to cottage construction. After all the proposed cottage lot assessments have been completed the approved lots will be advertised by the Department of Fisheries and Land Resources via a public draw.
The Level 1 Groundwater Assessment will determine with high probability that acceptable quality and quantity drinking water will be available to cottage owners for short and long-term use; identify and minimize potential impacts the proposed development may have on existing groundwater users and sensitive features such as wetlands, and ensure a qualified person applies a consistent approach with the necessary technical information when undertaking a water supply study.
