Beginning on Monday, April 30, the Department of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation will engage cultural stakeholders on the development of a new Cultural Action Plan for the province. Revitalizing the approach to supporting culture through a new Cultural Action Plan is a commitment that was set out in The Way Forward.
Targeted stakeholder sessions will take place in 13 locations across the province. In addition, written submissions are encouraged and will be accepted until July 15. To send a written submission or confirm attendance at a session, email culturalplanrenewal@gov.nl.ca.
A new Cultural Action Plan will be released early in 2019.
Quote
“Our government recognizes the significant social and economic contributions of the provincial cultural sector, and a new Cultural Action Plan will set priorities and key actions that will support and sustain those contributions and the people who make them. For this reason it is important that we hear directly from the cultural stakeholders to explore themes, as well as provide opportunities to contribute new ideas and prioritize government’s efforts and resources in support of the cultural sector over the next five years.”
Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore
Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation
