Premier Wakeham Celebrates Success of Labrador Winter Games Participants

Today, the Honourable Tony Wakeham, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, is congratulating participants of Labrador Winter Games, including athletes, the board of directors, volunteers, organizers, and supporters.

The Labrador Winter Games showcase the remarkable blend of heritage and athletic excellence that makes northern sport unique. Traditional skills honed over generations highlight the deep connection between Labrador communities and the land, while the modern competitive events showcase the discipline, precision, and determination that unite athletes everywhere. Together, they create a sporting tradition unlike any other. It is rooted in history, yet forward looking and full of energy.

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has provided financial support for the games since its inception in 1983 and is looking forward to continuing that support for the 2029 Labrador Winter Games.
