Undertakings Registered:
St. Lawrence South Ridge Fluorspar Mine Extension (Reg. 2406)
Proponent: Canada Fluorspar (NL) Inc.
The proponent is proposing to develop a new mine pit extension to the existing fluorspar mine located approximately two kilometres southwest of the town of St. Lawrence on the Burin Peninsula. The undertaking was registered on April 30, 2026. The deadline for public comment is June 5, 2026, and the minister’s decision is due by June14, 2026.

Pipestone Access Road Extension (Reg. 2405)
Proponent: First Atlantic Nickel Corp.
The proponent is proposing to construct a 7.67‑kilometre extension to the existing Atlantic Lake to Gulp Pond access road to increase access to the nickel zone and support ongoing mineral exploration activities. Green Bay Ming Mine (Reg. 2351)
Proponent: FireFly Metals Canada Ltd.
On April 29, 2026, the minister advised the proponent that the Water Resources Management Plan and the Environmental Protection Plan for the project are acceptable. These plans were required as conditions of release from environmental assessment. The minister also advised that the conditions requiring the submission of wildlife survey information and geospatial data have been met. Environmental Preview Report Required and Environmental Assessment Committee Appointed:
St. John’s Dockyard Upgrades (Reg. 2393)
Proponent: St. John’s Dockyard Limited
The minister has advised the proponent that an Environmental Preview Report is required for the project. The Environmental Preview Report is required to include:
- identification of in-ground contamination at the project site; and
- measures that would be undertaken to mitigate and monitor adverse effects.
The public will be invited to provide comments on the Environmental Preview Report upon its submission.
