Today, the Honourable Lela Evans, Minister of Women and Gender Equality, announced a $70,000 investment in St. John’s Pride to enhance the organization’s capacity to provide programming, outreach and support for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
As the province’s leading Pride organization, St. John’s Pride organizes the annual Pride Festival and works year-round to promote visibility, inclusion and connection for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and communities. In addition to its work in the Northeast Avalon region, the organization provides support and capacity-building assistance to Pride organizations and events throughout the province.
Building on this work, St. John’s Pride will partner with community organizations in 2026 to expand inclusive programming in rural and remote regions of the province. Plans also include a rural Pride social event in partnership with Gander Pride to strengthen connections between rural and urban communities and enhance opportunities for support, well-being and inclusion.
In celebration of Pride Month, the Honourable Tony Wakeham, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will participate in the annual St. John’s Pride Parade on Sunday (July 19), beginning at noon. Organized by St. John’s Pride, the parade is one of the biggest celebrations and movements of the year.
