As part of this year’s Purple Ribbon Campaign and flag-raising ceremony, which will be held on November 25, 2026, memorial banners will be displayed in honour of women and girls whose lives were tragically lost due to gender-based violence.
The banners serve as a tribute to cherished mothers, grandmothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, friends, and community members. They are a reminder that these women and girls were deeply loved, and that their memories continue to live on in the hearts of their families, friends, and communities.
The Office of Women and Gender Equality invites families who would like to honour a loved one through a memorial banner, to contact the office by email at: wgeinfo@gov.nl.ca or by phone at: 709-729-2987 for more information. Memorial banners are provided at no cost to families.
Requests for memorial banners will be accepted until September 30, 2026.
