Minister Forsey Announces Support for Fire Protection Vehicle and Equipment

The Honourable Pleaman Forsey, Minister of Forestry, Agriculture and Lands, today announced over $630,000 in funding to support the purchase of a fire protection vehicle and fire equipment, reinforcing the Provincial Government’s commitment to safer communities throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Provincial Government is investing:

  • $616,647 for a tanker/two-door fire truck for the Bay de Grave Volunteer Fire Department.
  • $8,893.51 for fire equipment for the Conception Harbour Volunteer Fire Department.
  • $5,072.39 for fire equipment for the Harbour Main-Chapel’s Cove-Lakeview Fire Department.

Minister Forsey made the announcement in South River, joined by the Honourable Helen Conway Ottenheimer, Minister of Justice and Public Safety and MHA for Harbour Main; Jim Edmunds, fire chief for Bay de Grave Volunteer Fire Department, and representatives from Conception Harbour Volunteer Fire Department and Harbour Main-Chapel’s Cove-Lakeview Fire Department.

This investment will strengthen fire protection services in the southern region of Conception Bay North, enhance emergency response capabilities, and help volunteer fire departments protect residents and communities.

Support for firefighting resources in other regions of the province will be announced soon.

Budget 2026 provides more than $7 million to support volunteer fire departments through investments in equipment, supplies, and training to help keep residents and communities safe.
