The organizations below offer a wealth of information and/or supports for the voluntary nonprofit sector. Keep in mind that some of the sites are based outside of Newfoundland and Labrador and selected information may be specific to another state or province.

CSC
The Community Sector Council Newfoundland and Labrador is dedicated to providing information and a voice for the volunteer nonprofit sector. Tune in and listen to their audio clips on insurance.

The Insurance Bureau of Canada is a national association representing Canada’s insurers. Part of its mandate is to provide information on insurance and related issues including a recently developed introduction to risk management.

Imagine Canada is a national charity with a mission to support and strengthen charities and nonprofits. They provide a number services including information and tools to help the volunteer sector complete its missions.

The Nonprofit Risk Management Center is based in the US and provides practical, affordable suggestions for controlling risks that threaten a nonprofit’s ability to accomplish its mission.
Volunteer Alberta Insurance Toolkit
This toolkit was developed by the Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations (CCVO) for the Alberta Voluntary Sector Insurance Council (AVSIC).

Volunteer Canada, a national organization, promoting volunteerism. Membership with Volunteer Canada provides access to their resources including access to reduced rates for Directors and Officers insurance and an office package

Clear Risk provides a web based tool for developing your risk management plan. This tool is free for charities.
