Sport

Participation in sport provides numerous benefits to individuals and communities. Competitive and recreational sport opportunities are available to individuals of all ages and abilities and sport participants may be involved in individual or team sport. Individuals may pursue their sport interests through community, school, sport clubs and organizations or by organizing a group sport activity with friends.

Participating in sport offers many health benefits, including improved physical, mental, emotional and social health.  Through sport participation, individuals develop a variety of important skills such as teamwork, conflict resolution, problem solving and time management. Sport provides opportunities for individuals to meet new people, stay connected with old friends and offers a unique sense of belonging.  At the community level, sport brings people together and strengthens communities.  Participants and volunteer coaches, administrators and officials have the opportunity to be involved and contribute to sport development and advancement.
