The Department of Energy and Mines recognizes the importance of prospector training to the future success of prospecting within the province. The College of the North Atlantic has developed, in collaboration with Energy and Mines, a Prospectors Training Course (PTC) that can aid in the development of a skilled, competent, adaptive, and diverse prospecting community. Prospecting is an essential step toward identifying and realizing the mineral potential of Newfoundland and Labrador.
The course consists of seven online modules followed by a two-day, in-person practical component offered at four locations across the province. Once both components are complete, participants will be eligible for Genuine Prospector Designation through Energy and Mines. Once dates have been finalized for the next course offering, they will be posted to this webpage. Please check back periodically for updates.
