CRIMS: 09-01 Information Technology – IT Service Support

Description: Use for records relating to the request for support to address problems with computer applications (e.g., password reset), networks, IT assets, or any other type of request that is handled by the IT Service Desk.

Filing Guidelines: Records are to be securely retained on site until final disposition.  It is the responsibility of the Departments to ensure all copies, regardless of media, are securely disposed when applicable.  Departments should retain a permanent copy of the record of disposal.

Function: Information Technology

Departmental OPR: Department head or designate that is responsible for Information Technology within a public body.

Retention: See table below

Disposition: Destroy

Use for records relating to departmental requests for IT assistance.

Records include: correspondence to and from the OCIO IT Service Desk regarding technical support and maintenance of applications provided to government by the OCIO. Examples include, but are not limited to, requests for service (e.g. software installation, access request, etc.), incident requests (i.e. something is broken), automated response from OCIO Service Desk when ticket is closed, etc.

Event date (ED) equals the date the ticket is closed.
