1. What are the hours of operation for visitation to Salmonier Nature Park?
Salmonier Nature Park is open to the public from June 1st to Thanksgiving Day each year. Operating hours are 10:00am to 6:00pm (front gate closes at 4:45pm) from June 1st to Labour Day, seven days a week. From the day after Labour Day the park opens 9:00am and closes at 4:00pm (front gate closes at 3:00pm) seven days a week.
Budget 2022 allocated two million dollars for necessary upgrades to the Nature Trail Boardwalk and other major park facilities that will build upon existing wildlife education programs and exhibits while enhancing the overall visitor experience. Due to ongoing repairs and upgrades to park infrastructure, some areas of the park may not be accessible to visitors or may be closed for portions of the day while construction occurs throughout the summer and fall. Admission to Salmonier Nature Park is free.
3. Where is Salmonier Nature Park located?
Salmonier Nature Park is located on the Salmonier Line (Route 90) 12 km south of the Trans Canada Highway (Route 1) on the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland. View the (map).
4. What is the distance around the trails at Salmonier Nature Park and approximately how long does it take to walk around the Park?
The trails at Salmonier Nature Park are approximately 3 km in length and most people complete the walk in an hour.
5. Is Salmonier Nature Park wheelchair accessible?
There is a boardwalk on the entire trail. This makes Salmonier Nature Park wheelchair and stroller friendly. Plans are underway to make the park completely wheelchair accessible in the near future.
6. Can I visit Salmonier Nature Park when the park is closed for the season?
When the park is closed to the public, it continues to be very busy with animal care and maintenance work. Frost and snow may cause slippery trails. Call ahead and if conditions permit you may be allowed to access the park during off season.
7. Does Salmonier Nature Park have overnight accommodations, camp sites, etc. If not, where are overnight accommodations available in the area?
Salmonier Nature Park does not provide accommodations or have any campsites. However, there are several campgrounds/trailer parks/bed and breakfasts and cabin resorts in the area. Some of these are as follows:

No. Absolutely no pets are allowed at Salmonier Nature Park.
