GIS and Mapping

The GIS and Mapping Division (GMD) of the Enforcement and Resource Services Branch is responsible for the planning, development and support of Geographical Information Systems and applications for the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture (FFA) and in some case for government as a whole. This includes the compilation and maintenance of GIS data sets designed for renewable resources including Agriculture, Forestry, Wildlife, Fisheries, Aquaculture, Crown Lands and Land Management.

GIS and Mapping is made up of two main sections:

  1. Surveys and Mapping Services – Responsible for base data sets for the province and national integration.
    1. Provincial Aerial Photography and Base Mapping
    2. Geodetic Network
    3. Geographic Names
    4. Provincial Land Use Atlas
    5. GIS Application – ArcGIS Online and General Support
  2. FFA Resource Support – provides support to the four branches within Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture and to people in other government departments.
