Jack Pine

Leaves

  • 2-4 cm in length
  • needle-shaped leaves
  • yellowish-green in colour
  • straight or slightly twisted, usually in clusters of two

Bark

  • thin, reddish-brown to grey on young trees
  • dark brown furrowed into irregular thick plates with age

General

  • small trees, up to 12 m in height high, 30 cm in diameter
  • only known Jack Pine in the Province occur in southwestern Labrador, at Red Fir lake and Kapitagas Channel
