Atlantic Fisheries Fund

The Atlantic Fisheries Fund (AFF) is a federal-provincial cost-shared program between the Government of Canada and the Governments of Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island.

The AFF is designed to transform and drive innovation in Atlantic Canada’s fish and seafood sector with a focus on developing the sector to better meet growing market demands for sustainably sourced, high-quality fish and seafood products.

The AFF focused investments are focused on the following four pillars:

  1. Market Development and Diversification: this will encourage market development and diversification to help make Canada’s Fish and Seafood sector more resilient to global trade disruptions
  2. Innovation: this will encourage the development of new products and technologies in the harvesting, aquaculture and processing sectors
  3. Infrastructure: this will encourage the use of new technologies or processes to improve sustainability
  4. Science partnerships: this will form industry-based collaborations with academia and other research institutions to improve our knowledge and understanding
