June 8 is World Oceans Day, a special day commemorated annually around the world to celebrate our oceans, the many benefits they provide, and those who earn a livelihood in ocean-related industries and organizations.
2026 Art Contest
🌊 World Oceans Day is just around the corner! The Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture invites K–12 students from across Newfoundland and Labrador to showcase their creativity by entering the World Oceans Day Art Contest.
This year’s theme is Celebrate the Oceans! Show off your imagination and artistic flair by creating a poster that captures the beauty, wonder or importance of our oceans. All posters must be original work by the student, sized to fit an 8.5” x 11” (22cm x 28cm) sheet of paper and showcase what the theme means to you.
Entries must be saved digitally and emailed by May 7, 2026, to worldoceansday@gov.nl.ca and winners will be announced on World Oceans Day, June 8, 2026.
Let’s inspire and celebrate our oceans together!
