2026 Fall OETC Program Course Registration

The Department of Environment and Climate Change is committed to the provision of education and training opportunities for municipal water and wastewater system operators. The Department has recognized that trained and qualified operating personnel are vital to the protection of public health through clean safe drinking water.

The Operator Education, Training & Certification (OETC) Program provides free educational seminars on a regular basis for municipal water and wastewater system operators at locations throughout the province, along with certification examinations as required. These seminars are designed to equip operators with the theoretical knowledge needed for the proper operation and maintenance of municipal water and wastewater systems and to support their preparation for certification exams.

Please see the course schedule below for detailed information on seminar topics, locations, dates, and times. Municipal operators, municipal staff and officials, and other interested water professionals are welcome to attend. There is no fee for municipal participants; however, associated travel costs, including meals, are not covered.

To challenge an exam is $75.00 plus HST. The exam payment must be recieved before the course begins. Certification exam payments can be found at the following link: Operator Certification Exam Payment

Any municipal participants attending these seminars may be eligible for funding through the Municipal Training Financial Assistance Fund (MTF) administered by the Municipal Finance Division of the Department Municipal and Provincial Affairs. This funding assists elected municipal officials, municipal employees and municipal volunteers in gaining access to training and professional development opportunities.
