Airborne Geophysical Data Compilation, North-Central Newfoundland (Parts of NTS 02C, 02D, 02E and 02F)

D. Oneschuk (GSC) and G.J. Kilfoil (GSNL)

St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, December, 2021

This joint Open File has been released by the Geological Survey Division (Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Industry, Energy and Technology) and the Geological Survey of Canada (Natural Resources Canada).

Digital magnetic and radiometric data from adjacent, and often overlapping, high-resolution surveys flown by mineral exploration companies within west-central Newfoundland were mutually levelled and merged in this compilation. The composite magnetic results were subsequently merged with regional aeromagnetic data, available from the Geological Survey of Canada’s Geophysical Data Repository.

This airborne survey compilation project was carried out under the Targeted Geoscience Initiative (TGI) Program of the Lands and Minerals Sector, Natural Resources Canada. The publication of this information was undertaken by the Geological Survey of Canada, and comprises part of a joint geoscience program with the Geological Survey Division, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, Department of Industry, Energy and Technology.

This Open File release consists of 4 maps at a scale of 1:200 000 and a data description file. Compilation results are presented as four (4) magnetic, full-coloured maps in pdf format available below or from Natural Resources Canada – GEOSCAN.
