The Honourable Andrew Parsons was first elected in 2011 to represent the district of Burgeo – La Poile. He has previously served as Minister of Justice and Public Safety, Attorney General, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, and Government House Leader.

Andrew is a lawyer, an ambitious leader, and a passionate ambassador for Newfoundland and Labrador. Born and raised on the southwestern tip of Newfoundland, Minister Parsons is an advocate for innovation, regional development, and economic diversification.

Minister Parsons is committed to building a healthy and prosperous future for Newfoundland and Labrador. In his previous role as Minister of Justice and Public Safety, Andrew established a drug treatment court, expanded the Family Violence Intervention Court, pioneered a program for free legal advice for sexual assault complaints, and created a Ministerial Committee on Violence against Women and Girls.

As Minister of Industry, Energy, and Technology, Andrew is accelerating growth, developing a thriving start-up ecosystem, and helping set Newfoundland and Labrador up for success for years to come by promoting and showcasing the province’s energy and technology sectors to the world. He is also a member of the Treasury Board, Social Policy Committee, and Planning & Priorities Committee.

Andrew is passionate about his hometown of Channel-Port Aux Basques where he, along with his two children and wife Erin have been proud members of the community. As the past president of Port-Aux-Basques Minor Hockey Association, he can still sometimes be found at the rink.

Andrew holds a Law Degree from the University of Saskatchewan and was called to the bar in Newfoundland and Labrador in 2005.
