The Provincial Government continues to increase online options for a number of services it offers to the residents of Newfoundland and Labrador. As of September 1, 2020, electronic payments for real estate, mortgage and insurance licences are now available online through a safe and secure web portal. Licensees can now use the online eServices option to pay both their application and renewal of licence fees.
These services complement a number of other online government eServices available such as building accessibility registration fees; the ability to produce a duplicate registration document or renew a company fleet of vehicles through the Motor Registration Division; crown lands, student aid and lottery licence applications; road and ferry information; and electrical permits.
The digital government initiative is transforming the way services are being delivered in Newfoundland and Labrador. Motor Registration Division driver’s licence and vehicle registration renewals and change of address updates are available at MyGovNL. The website also allows users to link their MCP account to their MyGovNL profile, receive renewal notifications and sign-up to be an organ and tissue donor.
There has been significant uptake in the use of the Provincial Government’s online services since the public health emergency. Registration has grown by approximately 700 per cent – from 7,500 to more than 70,000. Also, more than 98 per cent of vehicle renewals have been conducted online, and over 92 per cent of drivers have renewed their licence via the web.
