April 9, 2021

The Provincial Government is calling for applications to an enhanced Job Creation Partnerships program.

New this year are increased living allowances for participants:

  • Supervisory, coordinator or equivalently skilled positions – $595 weekly, up from $524 (examples include Project Supervisor Qualified Carpenter, or Program Manager);
  • Moderately skilled positions – $540 weekly, up from $497 (examples include Museum Interpreter, Administrator or Program Coordinator); and,
  • Labourer or equivalently skilled positions – $510 weekly, up from $477 (examples include Labourer, Office Clerk, or Maintenance Worker).

Job Creation Partnerships support not-for-profit projects that enable workers to gain skills and experience that help them secure ongoing employment. Supported by the Labour Market Development Agreement, approved projects must benefit participants as well as their communities.

Employers are invited to apply online at Job Creation Partnerships – Immigration, Population Growth and Skills. Approvals will begin in late April and progress on a continuous basis, subject to funding availability. The deadline for applications is July 31, 2021.

In 2020-21, 247 projects were approved to support approximately 1,000 individuals through Job Creation Partnerships.

Quote
“Getting people back to work is crucial for the province’s post-pandemic economic recovery and I am especially pleased that this round features an increase to the living allowance – putting more money into the pockets of participants. Our enhanced Job Creation Partnerships continue to help workers gain valuable job skills while improving infrastructure in communities throughout the province.”
