The Department of Justice and Public Safety is reminding the public of the approaching deadline to apply for assistance under the Newfoundland and Labrador Disaster Financial Assistance Program. The program is for municipalities and local service districts, small business owners, not-for-profits and home owners who sustained damage during Hurricane Fiona in September 2022.

The deadline for receipt of applications is this Tuesday (January 31). Information is available online or by calling 1-888-395-5611.

As of January 24, over 200 applications have been received. If individuals have not yet applied because they are waiting for a response from their insurance provider, they should still apply before the deadline. Documents from insurance providers or other required documentation can be submitted after the deadline as long as your application has been received by the deadline.
