September 7, 2023

On July 17, 2023, the Department of Municipal and Provincial Affairs announced the Community Collaboration Grants initiative, which aims to help address service gaps and build capacity of communities through a collaborative, shared services approach.

Since the launch, communities are expressing interest in working together to increase collaboration and service sharing in various regions. The deadline for applications has now been extended to October 31, 2023.

These grants are part of the new regionalization approach that will advance community sustainability and viability through collaboration and service sharing. Grants will be a maximum of $100,000, with a provincial/municipal cost-share ratio of 90/10.

Some examples of areas that could receive funding through these grants are:

  • Procurement;
  • Recreation facilities;
  • Water services;
  • Fire and emergency services; and
  • Economic development.

Applications for the community collaboration grants are available here. Applicants can also email specialassistancegrants@gov.nl.ca or call toll-free 1-877-729-4393.

Quote
“As the fall season approaches, we expect the applications for the community collaboration grants to increase. The department is there to support communities with their applications and we encourage any municipality to reach out if there are questions regarding the application process.”
