The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s jurisdiction is expanding to Massey Drive and Mount Moriah effective tomorrow (Thursday, February 1, 2024) at 12:01 a.m.

There is no change to 9-1-1 services. As always, dial 9-1-1 in case of emergency.

Residents with ongoing matters should continue to engage the police agency currently handling their file, unless notified directly that a file transfer has occurred. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police will continue to manage ongoing files in Massey Drive and Mount Moriah that were reported to the agency prior to February 1, 2024.

In August 2023, the Honourable John Hogan, KC, Minister of Justice and Public Safety and Attorney General, announced that the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary would be expanding its jurisdiction in western Newfoundland. Additional phases of jurisdiction expansion will occur throughout 2024.

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador thanks the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for its years of dedication and commitment to the residents of Massey Drive and Mount Moriah. Together with communities, both police agencies, and the Government of Canada, the Provincial Government is working effectively and efficiently to ensure all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians feel safe and secure.
