The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has reached a tentative collective agreement with the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association (NLTA). The tentative agreement will extend the Association’s current provincial collective agreement to August 31, 2022 and is subject to ratification by approximately 7,000 NLTA members.

The tentative deal will extend all aspects of the current provincial collective agreement, with the exception of certain specific amendments. Amendments include a salary increase and a reduction to long-term financial liabilities related to post-employment benefits for new employees.

The NLTA will present the tentative agreement to its membership in the coming weeks. Specific details on the changes to the current agreement will be released subject to successful ratification.

In the past several days, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has also reached tentative agreements with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), and the Association of Allied Health Professionals (AAHP).
