Submissions are now being accepted for one of Newfoundland and Labrador’s most prestigious arts and cultural recognition programs, the Arts and Letters Awards.

Now in its 75th year, the Arts and Letters Awards Program encourages the creation of new works of art by both professional and non-professional artists in Newfoundland and Labrador. This program recognizes excellence through the awarding of monetary prizes and through the exhibition of outstanding entries. Original creative works in literature, music, and visual art in junior and senior categories are eligible.

Throughout its history, the Arts and Letters Awards Program has played an important role in nurturing artistic talent throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. Many emerging and established artists have credited the program as a significant milestone in their creative development. For some, it provided early recognition and validation of their artistic abilities, and for others, the adjudication process offered valuable feedback that helped refine their artistic practices.

By encouraging creativity, excellence and artistic growth, the program has helped shape generations of Newfoundland and Labrador artists.

The submission deadline is November 18, 2026.
