• To apply for Crown lands use the application form here:  Application for Crown Lands. When applying for a certain piece of land, visit the Provincial Land Use Atlas to view information on a particular area’s land uses, or to determine whether any Crown titles have been issued for that particular piece of land.
• If you are applying for a Crown lands grant or for additional Crown lands for a lease and/or licence that you currently have:
  • Certain sections of the application may not pertain to you.
  • Depending on the age of the survey for current leases, a new survey may be required before a grant can be issued.
• A non-refundable application fee must be paid before you submit your application.
  • Application Processing Fee: $150.00 + HST
  • Document Preparation Fee: $300.00
• Payments for the Application for Crown Lands fee can be paid via:
  • Online – Crown Lands application fee or
  • In person – Central Cashier’s Office in the Confederation Building, East Block, St. John’s. Tel: (709) 729-3042.
• Please note that Crown lands applications are subject to a referral process. As part of that process, other Provincial Governments Departments may request such things as:
  • Historical study
  • Water resources permit/study
  • Environmental Assessment registration
  • Botanical study
  • Highway access permit
  • Approved Septic design

To ensure timely processing of your application:

• Complete all sections of the Application for Crown Lands pertaining to your application.
• Attach a clear and legible Applicant’s Map.
• Attach a receipt for the application payment.
• Attach all required supporting documentation.
• Include a detailed explanation of required amendments/changes if you wish to amend a current lease or licence, or require additional Crown lands for a current title.
• If you apply for boathouse, wharf or slipway use, include a summary/link to your Notice of Intent published in the Newfoundland and Labrador Gazette
• Attach a site plan if you wish to apply for Crown lands for commercial use.
• Attach a small scale / large scale farm plan if you wish to apply for Crown lands for agricultural use.

Submit completed Application for Crown lands and all required documents by email to crownlandsinfo@gov.nl.ca or to a Crown Lands Regional Office.
