Project Description:

The proponent is proposing to construct and operate a maximum 1 gigawatt (GW), 164-turbine onshore wind farm on the Port au Port Peninsula with the associated transmission and supporting infrastructure to power a 0.5 GW hydrogen/ammonia production facility in the port of Stephenville.

• June 21, 2022 – The undertaking was registered.
• July 27, 2022 – Deadline for public comments.
• August 5, 2022 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• August 5, 2022 – An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is required.
• August 5, 2022 – Environmental Assessment Committee (EAC) appointed.
• December 2, 2022 – The Minister is due to deliver EIS Guidelines to the proponent.
• September 29, 2022 – Draft EIS Guidelines for public review.
• November 8, 2022 – Deadline for public comments on Draft EIS Guidelines.
• December 13, 2022 – Final EIS Guidelines Approved.
• August 22, 2023 – EIS Submitted – Public Comments Invited.
• October 11, 2023 – Deadline for public comments on the EIS.
• October 31, 2023 – The Minister’s decision on the acceptability of the EIS is due.
• October 31, 2023 – The Minister determined that the EIS Requires Additional Work.
• January 30, 2024 – Amendment to the EIS submitted – public comments invited.
• March 20, 2024 – Deadline for public comments on the Amendment to the EIS.
• April 9, 2024 – The Minister’s decision on the acceptability of the Amendment and EIS is due.
• April 9, 2024 – The Minister determined that the EIS and Amendment are acceptable.
• April 9, 2024 – The Minister announced that the project is released with conditions.
