Project Description:

The proponent is proposing to establish a beef cattle industry near Cavendish, Trinity Bay. The initial herd size will be 26 animals with an eventual expansion to 100. This operation will be complementary to the proponent’s existing mink farm operations, but will also require an additional 117 hectares of Crown land. Development will consist of clearing, seeding and fertilizing land for grazing and forage production.

• February 28, 2019 – The undertaking was registered.
• April 10, 2019 – Deadline for public comments.
• April 14, 2019 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• April 16, 2019 – Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is required.
• May 10, 2019 – EIS Committee appointed.
• June 15, 2019 – EIS Guidelines due to be issued.
• August 20, 2019 – Draft EIS Guidelines Posted for Public Review.
• September 28, 2019 – Deadline for Public Comments on Draft EIS Guidelines
• November 6, 2019 – Final EIS guidelines approved.
• March 25, 2022 – EIS submitted.
• May 13, 2022 – Deadline for public comment on the EIS.
• June 2, 2022 – The Minister’s decision on the EIS is due.
• June 23, 2022 – The Minister’s decision on the EIS is due (extended).
• July 15, 2022 – The Minister’s decision on the EIS is due (extended).
• August 12, 2022 – The Minister’s decision on the EIS is due (extended).
• August 10, 2022 – The Minister determined the EIS was acceptable.
• September 29, 2022 – The Minister announced that the project is released with conditions.
• March 17, 2023 – Conditions of release met.
