Project Description:

The proponent proposes to establish a new explosives facility at its Labrador City mine site in order to upgrade working efficiency and employee safety within its existing explosives facility boundaries. The construction and operation of the project is intended to address the various compliance concerns associated with the existing facility, as well as to provide additional capacity required for the current and potential future mining activity at the Carol Lake Project. The project will be capable of producing 85000 metric tons per annum (Mtpa) of bulk Ammonium Nitrate Explosive annually, an increase of 25,000 Mtpa.

• May 29, 2019 – The undertaking was registered.
• July 4, 2019 – Deadline for public comments.
• July 13, 2019 – The Minister’s decision is due
• September 10, 2019 – The project is released.
