Project Description:
The proponent is proposing to create a pool and weir type of fishway on the main stem of the St. Lewis River at a falls located approximately 28 kilometres upstream from St. Lewis Sound in southern Labrador. The project is proposed to provide greater accessibility for Atlantic Salmon to a 32-kilometre section on the main stem of the river.
- July 8, 2019 – The undertaking was registered.
- August 13, 2019 – Deadline for public comments.
- August 22, 2019 – The Minister’s decision is due.
- April 14, 2022 – An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is required.
- August 11, 2022 – The Minister is due to deliver EIS Guidelines to the proponent.
- May 11, 2022 – Environmental Assessment Committee (EAC) appointed.
- November 17, 2022 – The project has been withdrawn.
