Project Description:

The proponent has submitted a proposal for a Five-year Operating Plan for Zone 7, which includes Forest Management Districts 9 and 16 surrounding White Bay. Zone 7 extends from Deer Lake in the west to Cat Arm in the north and includes all of the Baie Verte Peninsula. The plan describes proposed timber harvesting operations, construction of access roads and silviculture activities. The plan covers the period from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2026.

• June 30, 2021 – The undertaking was registered.
• August 6, 2021 – Deadline for public comments.
• August 14, 2021 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• October 8, 2021 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
• October 8, 2021 – The Minister announced that the project is released.
• December 15, 2021 – The Minister approved the Domestic Harvesting Plan.
• December 17, 2021 – The Minister approved the Viewscape Management Plan.
