Project Description:

The proponent has submitted a five-year operating plan for Crown Planning Zone 8 (Forest Management Districts 17 and 18). Planning Zone 8 encompasses the majority of the Great Northern Peninsula, commencing at the northern boundary of Gros Morne National Park on the west side of the Peninsula and at Great Cat Arm on the eastern side of the Peninsula. The plan includes a description of proposed commercial and domestic timber harvesting operations, the construction forest access roads and silviculture activities. The plan covers the period from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2027.

• July 27, 2022 – The undertaking was registered.
• September 1, 2022 – Deadline for public comments.
• September 10, 2022 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• September 24, 2022 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
• October 8, 2022 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
• October 21, 2022 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
• October 28, 2022– The Minister determined the project is released.
