Project Description:

The proponent is proposing to develop a 6.23-hectare sand and gravel quarry near its existing quarry in Birchy Bay, Central Newfoundland. The quarry would be located along the Horse Chops Access Road approximately three kilometres from the intersection with Route 340. The quarry materials would be used in local construction projects.

• July 28, 2023 – The undertaking was registered.
• September 1, 2023 – Deadline for public comments.
• September 11, 2023 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• September 25, 2023 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
• September 19, 2023 – Stop Order Issued.
• March 21, 2024 – The Environmental Assessment was continued.
• April 26, 2024 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
• April 26, 2024 – The Minister determined the Project is released.
