Project Description:

The proponent is proposing an amendment to the Zone 8 Five-Year Operating Plan (2023-2027) for Districts 17 and 18 that would increase harvest areas in response to the Spruce Budworm outbreak. Forest Management Planning Zone 8 extends from Gros Morne National Park in the south to the community of St. Anthony in the north. The amendment is necessary to salvage silviculture treated stands.

  • May 22, 2026 – Deadline for Public Comments.
  • May 31, 2026 – The Minister’s decision is due.
