Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

The proponent is proposing to re-route an existing Newfoundland and Labrador Snowmobile Federation trail near Jumper’s Brook, east of Bishop’s Falls in central Newfoundland. The new section of trail would be approximately 600 metres in length and would bypass an area where the trail uses the NL Hydro’s transmission line right-of-way. Re-routing the trail would improve trail safety by avoiding hazards such as towers, guy wires and uneven terrain. Construction would also include widening some sections of access roads in the same area.

• July 23, 2026 – The undertaking was registered.
• August 28, 2026 – Deadline for public comments.
• September 6, 2026 – The Minister’s decision is due.
