Project Description:

The proponent is proposing to develop a new mine pit extension to the existing fluorspar mine located approximately two kilometres southwest of the town of St. Lawrence on the Burin Peninsula.

• April 30, 2026 – The undertaking was registered.
• June 5, 2026 – Deadline for public comment.
• June 14, 2026 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• June 16, 2026 – The Minister determined that an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is required.
• June 25, 2026 – The Minister appointed an Environmental Assessment Committee (EAC) for the Project.
• October 14, 2026 – The EIS Guidelines are due to be issued.
