Project Description:
The proponent is proposing to develop an open‑pit gold mine at the Queensway North Property, located east of the town of Appleton. The project would include four open pits, ore crushing and sorting facilities, waste rock storage, and supporting infrastructure. Ore would be transported to the existing Pine Cove processing facility for final processing. The mine is designed to produce approximately 700 tonnes of ore per day over an operational period estimated at seven years, with potential for extension.
- May 7, 2026 – The undertaking was registered.
- June 12, 2026 – Deadline for public comment.
- June 21, 2026 – The Minister’s decision is due.
- July 3, 2026 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
- July 3, 2026 – The Minister determined that an Environmental Preview Report (EPR) is required.
- July 6, 2026 – The Minister appointed an Environmental Assessment Committee (EAC) for the Project.
- September 1, 2026 – The EPR Guidelines are due to be issued.
