Public Sector Pensions

The Treasury Board Secretariat is responsible for administering the following three pension plans which are sponsored by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador:

  • Uniformed Services Pension Plan – USPP
  • Members of the House of Assembly Pension Plan – MHAPP
  • Provincial Court Judge’s Pension Plan – PCJPP

As a result of Public Service Pension Plan Reform, the Public Service Pension Plan (PSPP) is jointly trusteed by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and the five major unions representing unionized members of the PSPP.  Effective April 1, 2017, the PSPP is being administered by Provident10.

As a result of Teachers’ Pension Plan Reform, the Teachers’ Pension Plan (TPP) is jointly trusteed by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association, which represents members of the TPP. Effective November 1, 2017, the TPP is being administered by the Teachers’ Pension Plan Corporation.

The Government Money Purchase Pension Plan (GMPP) is sponsored by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and is administered by Canada Life (Group Retirement Services).
